Sugarland
Its hard to say whether its Jennifer Nettle's powerful voice, their "Everyday America" appeal, or perhaps its their series of #1 country singles that make Sugarland country's top duo. Either way, the fans, country radio, and America can't get enough of them. Sugarland tour dates are scheduled nationally with the duo bringing "The Incredible Machine Tour," to a venue in your area this spring and summer. Don't miss a date on the Sugarland concert schedule 2011; Use Eventful as your source for Sugarland tour dates and venue information.
Sugarland, actually started out as a trio including Nettles, guitarist Kristian Bush and songwriter Kristen Hall (who exited the band shortly after achieving mainstream success). The band signed a recording deal with Mercury Nashville in 2004 and released their first single, "Baby Girl," from their debut album, "Twice the Speed of Light." The single and album were a huge success, "Baby Girl" peaked at #2 on Billboard's Country Songs survey and the album was certified triple platinum. Sugarland booked tour dates as the opening act for Brad Paisley in 2005 and for Brooks & Dunn in 2006. Their debut album continued to release hit after hit, with "Something More," and "Just Might Believe," receiving gold certifications in 2005. The group topped off their year by winning the American Music Award for Favorite Breakthrough New Artist.
Following the exit of Hall, Sugarland returned to the studio to record their sophomore set, "Enjoy the Ride," in late 2006. The album's first single, "Want To," became their first #1 country single and the album debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. "Enjoy the Ride" spawned three more top ten country singles and was eventually certified triple platinum. The duo also won the Top New Duo award from the Academy of Country Music and received a Best New Artist Grammy nomination in 2006. The Sugarland concert schedule included a stint as the opening act for Kenny Chesney's "Flip Flop Summer Tour 2006," and a performance at the CMT Awards.
The band was quick to return to the studio and in 2008, they released their third album, "Love on the Inside." 2008 proved to be the band's breakout year, earning them their first #1 album on the Billboard 200, two Grammy awards, two CMA awards, and the ACM award for Top Vocal Duo. They released three #1 hit singles from the album and Sugarland booked tour dates as the headliners of the "Love on the Inside Tour," which featured Kellie Pickler as the opening act. The Sugarland concert schedule also included dates overseas in France, Germany, England, and Ireland and they visited various American military bases.
In the summer of 2010, the duo released their first single from their "The Incredible Machine" album, "Stuck Like Glue," to skepticism from the country music media. The song features a rap from Nettles and an unconventional chorus. The gamble paid off when the single became their highest charting song on the US pop charts and the album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. The duo shows no signs up letting up, Sugarland tour dates are scheduled nationally throughout spring and summer 2011. The Sugarland concert schedule includes their headlining stint on the Incredible Machine Tour," which features opening acts Sara Bareilles and Little Big Town. Nettle's powerful vocals and the duo's clever lyrics have made them a crowd favorite since "Baby Girl," was released in 2004. Darius Rucker
Every now and then comes along a singer who can continuously reinvent themselves, break barriers, and create music that resonates. Darius Rucker is that versatile artist. He set records with Hootie & the Blowfish as a rocker, he evolved into the jazz-R&B world, and most recently he has broken down barriers as a country star. Moreover, he is a performer with a twenty-plus-year career; Darius Rucker tour dates are currently scheduled throughout the US this summer, 2011.
Darius Rucker got his start as the frontman for Hootie & the Blowfish, which formed as students at the University of South Carolina. Their debut album, "Cracked Rearview Mirror", is currently ranked as the 15th best selling album of all time in the United States and the best selling debut for any act. With the band, who are also his lifelong friends, they released seven studio albums and are currently on a permanent hiatus while pursuing other interests. The band became a household name and they toured and continue to perform for benefits and at other scheduled events.
In 2001, Rucker signed with independent Jazz-R&B label Hidden Beach Recordings to produce an R&B album. The album "Back to Then" was released in 2002 and featured famed neo-soul artist Jill Scott on production. While the album was a modest success for the label, it didn't match the acclaim that Rucker had experienced with Hootie & The Blowfish and he didn't release any more records with the label.
While his R&B career may have floundered, Rucker made a surprising turn as a country artist in 2008 when he signed to Capitol Records. He co-wrote and produced his first single "Don't Think I Don't Think About It", and released it in 2008. It was an instant hit and reached #1 on the Billboard Country charts. He released his debut country album, "Learn to Live", in 2008 with production help from Frank Rogers who has worked with such artists as Brad Paisley. Rucker's accomplishment made him the first African-American country artist to have a top 20 hit since Charley Pride in 1988. Rucker's album was certified platinum by the RIAA and also produced the #1 singles "Alright" and "It Won't Be Like This For Long", which distinguished him as the first country artist to have his first three singles reach #1 since Wynonna in 1992. Rucker's success was solidified when he received the Country Music Association award for New Artist of the Year in 2009!
Rucker returned to the studio to record his highly anticipated sophomore follow-up. The album, "Charleston, SC 1966", was released in October, 2010, and featured the #1 single "Come Back Song". The second single "This", written by Rucker and Kara DioGuardi also reached #1 on the charts. In support of the album, Darius Rucker tour dates are scheduled around the country throughout 2011. Rucker surprised us with his country transformation, however, he proved he is as genuine and sincere as any country artist before him. The country couple met each other over a decade ago at a talent competition in Nashville. The southern natives were solo artists before putting their efforts together in 2002 to form Thompson Square. The road to country success was slow-burning for the duo who toured and performed locally for eight years before being signed to Stoney Creek Records in January, 2010. They released their debut single "Let's Fight", in Summer, 2010; However, it was with the release of "Are You Going to Kiss Me Or Not" that Thompson Square became the hottest new country act of the year.
The act's sophomore single reached #1 on the Billboard Country Singles chart and received a Platinum certification by years-end. They released their self-titled debut album in February, 2011 and it debuted at #15 on the Billboard 200. Thomson Square tour dates are scheduled in support of this debut effort and they are currently promoting their latest single "I Got You". The duo was recognized at the CMT Music Awards in 2011 with nominations for Duo Video of the Year and for Breakthrough Video of the Year for their star-turning single.
Stay posted on newly scheduled Thompson Square tour dates this 2011. They released last summer's catchiest country single and are only just getting started. Don't miss a tour date on the Thompson Square concert schedule and their summer tour on the opening stage for Jason Aldean.
